1ST WAVE START TIME: 8:30 A.M. at East Fort Baker. Sorry, there is no parking or registration at the start.

COURSE

Certified 12K (7.45 Miles) course from East Fort Baker; across the Golden Gate Bridge west sidewalk to Aquatic Park. Hilly, paved and beautiful. Sorry, for safety reasons, no dogs or wheels (i.e. baby strollers, baby joggers or skates) allowed on the course or on the shuttle buses.

BUS SHUTTLES TO START FROM SAN FRANCISCO

Buses leave from Aquatic Park beginning at 6:30 A.M. You must arrive by 8:00 A.M. to ensure a seat on the bus. YOU MUST HAVE A BIB NUMBER TO GET ON SHUTTLE BUS. There are no post-race shuttles.

BUS SHUTTLES TO START FROM SAUSALITO

Buses will leave from downtown Sausalito between 7:00 & 8:00 A.M. Bus pick-up will be located at Bridgeway & Princess. YOU MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED AND HAVE A BIB NUMBER TO GET ON THE SHUTTLE BUS. There are no post-race shuttles.

3 WAVE START

15 minute intervals between waves will decrease crowding on the course. Waves are assigned by age and best 2008 10K time and date entry is received. Entries mailed in together will automatically be assigned to same wave (wave #2 or #3). All runners have an equal opportunity to score, qualify and win. Computers adjust the times according to the wave start. ABSOLUTELY NO FIRST WAVE ASSIGNMENTS RACE DAY!

Emerald Premium Snack Gifts will be awarded to the top 3 men and women in the overall and masters category. Medals presented to top 3 men and women in the following divisions: 8-11, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+

PRIZE MONEY

$4500. Award winners must be PA/USATF members. Prize money is awarded to PA/USATF members only. PA/USATF Championship divisions as follows: Open, Masters, Senior, Super Senior, Veteran & Teams.

Earphone Usage Rule: Now, only USAT&F Athletes competing in a USAT&F Championship are banned from using earphones. Participants not competing for the USAT&F prize money or points are welcome to wear earphones if they wish. We do encourage the non-USAT&F athletes/participants who wear earphones to do so safely by making sure you can hear the surroundings as well as course directions.

$1,000 Course Record BONUS*: Emerald Premium Snacks is offering a $1,000 bonus prize to the man and/or woman who breaks the open division ‘Emerald Across the Bay 12K’ course record.  Current course records:  Women’s -Linda Somers-Smith, 40:27 (1995)*, Men’s -Bill Donakowski, 35:48 (1987)*  

NOTE: Course records extend back to when this race was known as the ‘Houlihan’s to Houlihan’s 12K.’

RACE BIBS REQUIRED

Bib #'s must be worn on front of shirt for entry into start area, to board shuttle bus, on the course, in the finish chutes, for photos, and to receive finisher shirt and refreshments.

Parking tips for Fisherman's Wharf

(Public Transportation Recommended)

The main garages are listed below:

*Ghirardelli Square: special $10.00 flat rate, must show bib # & be out by 1 PM**

*The Anchorage: special $10.00 flat rate, must show bib # & be out by 1 PM**

*Beach & Hyde Garage: special $10.00 flat rate, must show bib # & be out by 1 PM **

**(Note on above) if not out by 1:00 PM, normal rates apply from time of entry

*The Sheraton at Fisherman’s Wharf: $10.00 flat rate, must be out by 5 PM

*Pier 39: normal rates apply

Street parking: a few blocks south or west of the Wharf, is particularly good option on Sundays, when the 2-hour limit on unmetered residential parking does not apply, however make sure you read all parking signs to make sure of any limits or rules. Parking meters operate seven days a week, and the fines for over parking either at meters or in the two-hour zones are expensive!

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Directions from the South Bay: Take U.S. 101 north towards San Francisco. Follow the “101 North” signs to Van Ness. Continue North on Van Ness to Northpoint -- make a right turn on Northpoint -- (see map for Parking)

Directions from the East Bay: After crossing the Bay Bridge follow the “101 North” signs to Van Ness. Continue North on Van Ness to Northpoint -- make a right turn on Northpoint -- (see map for Parking)

Directions from the North Bay: Take U.S. 101 south towards San Francisco. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and merge onto U.S. 101 South (Lombard Street). Continue east on Lombard to Van Ness Ave. Make a left onto Van Ness.  Follow Van Ness to Northpoint -- make a right turn on Northpoint -- (see map for Parking)
